How Quantum Principles Can Transform Your Fundraising and Leadership

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: energy is everything.

Words are powerful. Messaging matters. I’ve spent decades helping nonprofits sharpen the way they tell their story. But what I’ve discovered is this: even the best-crafted words fall flat if the energy behind them is off.

Donors may not consciously notice it, but they feel when your energy doesn’t match your message. If you’re anxious, desperate, or burned out, no pitch—no matter how perfect—will resonate. On the other hand, when your energy is aligned, grounded, and inspired, people naturally want to follow your lead.

That’s why I want to share with you some principles—drawn from quantum physics—that can completely shift the way you lead, fundraise, and connect with others. Don’t worry, you don’t need a physics degree for this. You just need an open mind and a willingness to experiment.

Principle 1: Energy Is Everything

At the quantum level, we’re all fields of vibrating energy. Our thoughts, words, and actions carry frequencies that impact the people around us.

If you show up to a donor meeting nervous and desperate, they’ll sense it—even if your words are flawless. If you show up inspired and open, they’ll feel that too.

Before every meeting, ask yourself: What energy am I bringing into the room? Breathe, visualize the outcome you want, and reframe from “I need money” to “I’m inviting someone into a transformation.”

Your vibe really does attract your tribe.

Principle 2: The Observer Effect

In quantum mechanics, the simple act of observation changes the outcome. The same is true for your work.

Where you place your attention—on scarcity or abundance, failure or possibility—shapes the results you get.

One client of mine used to end every day staring at the long to-do list she hadn’t finished. She’d soak in her hot tub at night and think about everything left undone. We flipped the script: she started putting her completed tasks on her whiteboard instead. Suddenly, she was ending each day celebrating wins instead of dwelling on losses.

The outcome? More energy, more confidence, and more momentum.

Your perception changes your reality. Focus on what’s working, and you’ll get more of it.

Principle 3: Non-Locality and Connection

Quantum entanglement shows us that particles separated by vast distances can still affect each other instantly. What does that mean for us?

It means our thoughts, emotions, and intentions ripple out far beyond our immediate presence.

That’s why I always set an intention before sending an email, launching a campaign, or even walking into a meeting. Something as simple as: “May this message inspire, connect, and open doors.”

Your influence doesn’t stop at the edge of the room. Human-to-human connection can transcend time and distance when grounded in intention and authenticity.

Principle 4: Infinite Possibilities

At the quantum level, particles exist in multiple states until observed. In other words, multiple realities are always possible.

For nonprofit leaders, this is huge. You don’t have to be limited by old stories of “that’s just how it is.”

If you can spend all night worrying about what might go wrong, you can also spend all night envisioning what might go right. Imagine a version of your organization where ease, abundance, and support are the norm—and then align your actions with that vision.

Reality isn’t fixed. You get to choose what version of it you participate in.

Leading With Energy and Alignment

At the end of the day, strategy and planning matter. But beneath every strategy is an energetic frequency that drives whether people trust you, follow you, or give to your cause.

When your inner state—your thoughts, emotions, and intentions—aligns with your vision and values, you no longer need to push or hustle so hard. You work with the field instead of against it.

So, here’s my invitation: start noticing your energy. Start setting intentions. Start speaking not just about what you don’t want, but what you do want.

Because when your energy is aligned, influence becomes effortless.
